2010 Storytellers Photography Contest

Eight pictures and a thousand words could lead to up to $40,000 toward a photography degree.

The Storytellers Photography Competition 2010, sponsored by The Art Institutes, is open to high school seniors graduating in 2010 and high school graduates in the U.S. The contest provides a chance to earn a photography scholarship to one of the 31 Art Institutes schools offering a photography program.

To compete, you must submit 8 photographs that tell a complete story, including a beginning, middle, and end, along with a 500-1,000 word essay that explains the plot and your mission statement as the artist.

The competition has separate categories for high school seniors graduating in 2010 and for high school graduates. The grand prize winner in the high school senior category will take home a $40,000 scholarship to an Art Institutes school offering photography. The grand prize winner in the high school graduate category will earn a $10,000 scholarship to one of The Art Institutes schools offering photography.

Along with the photos and artist's statement, you'll need a high school transcript demonstrating a GPA of 2.0 or higher or proof of high school graduation.

Deadline for entries is March 5, 2010.
